Situation at fouth dhinese Ports,

The enclosed reports are submitted in
sontimation of ny submission ib. 262/063, dated the 25th
June,
1925.
The situations in the several Fouthern
Chinese ports have generally inmoved, but they are far
from antisfactory and riota and nob law may be expected in
several placer at the slightest provocation.
At yrs at loslly all the Fest River ports and
from Hainan all women and children have been evacuated and
the male foreign population alone rensin.
Taken individually the situations at the
several porte may be summarised as under.

Chilet under normal conditions
With
Hainaa would appear to be a hot bed of banditry, at the
present time with a wave of anti-foreign agitation sweeping
China it in a most unhealthy plass for foreigners,
the utter lack of communications, it would be a simple matter for the foreign population to be exterminated without knowledge leaking out for some time, should events rouse the unruly element. I concur with the Commanding officer, Fubmarine "I 33". that a ship should visit Hoihow period-

TUCHOE. SHAM SHUI AND ZUBZUE. <rastically all
the foreign population have left, and no overt action is anticipated unless events in canton should so dietate. such an event it is probable that the foreign population
